Does anybody know where to find what the black coating on the B22-fvsr is.

Picked up a new one just for target shooting.
It's never been out in the bush or ever gotten wet.
After one year it is rusting.

It's not a blue but could be parkerized.
Need to know for sure so I can fix it.
I will try and email them for an answer.
Love the way it shoots but this is very disappointing.
The other brand new .22 I got in the early 70's has fared much better.
The No5 that I dragged through the bush for decades has fared better.

I guarantee it's not parkerized.
Remington uses Black Oxide over blasted steel in their cheaper lines, but they list it as Black Oxide on their website. It basically looks the same as blasted and blued. Savage lists them as blued, and out of the 4 I have here, (3 US made, 1 Canadian made) they are all blasted and blued.

Ok I didn't think it was a blue just because of the matte finish.
I may even still have some black blueing or what ever it was called.
I will gently knock the red off with some scotchbrite and try and touch it up.
Thanks for your input.

Don't use scotchbrite. Don't use any abrasive. gentry rub it with oil and super fine steel wool.
