I just received my Savage B22 FVSR and noticed this hole on the bottom of the bolt. I'm guessing this isn't normal. Anyone else have these on their B series?
No. That does not look normal nor is any of the other holes. I'm getting mine (brand new) coming in from the mail tomorrow. I'll take some pictures and get back to you.
So I just received my B22 in the mail today and my bolt does not have that slot hole (I received the lucky batch?). However judging by the responses from other users this isn't much to worry about.
I did however looked into that sharp edge issue between the bolt chassis and the "spring cocking pin???" as highlighted in the YouTube video. Not sure what the condition of your bolt chassis is in, but mine was razor sharp. I took apart the bolt and found bits of metal shavings that looks to have came off the Spring Cocking Pin. For a brand new rifle, the bolt probably went through 20 so cycles. It's insane how it is already eating itself away. So I took a small Dremel tool bit and BY HAND use the abrasive stone to break the two razor edges ever so slightly. It look roughly 5 min, per edge just enough to dull it up (See images). Anyways, I then cycled the bolt 20 or so times without evidence of any metal cutting metal action going on.
