Picked one up late last year and could not be happier.
Had tried a variety of guns for a "truck gun" focusing on 22wmr.
Narrowed it down to a new bolt Savage, B series , likely the FV.
The first one to come in locally was the FV-SR. Well, lets have a look anyhow.... and
suprise !!! Heavy barrel and ONLY 16.25" long??? Perfect, but.... how much velocity loss are we looking at?
Did overnight research only to find that modern 22wmr cartridges are at max velocity at 18 or so inches and not much less at 16.
Nabbed it up the first thing next day, with rings, sling, & spare magazine.
Chrony at home showed only 40 fps less than the 1875 fps on the CCI box... perfectly ok with that.
Topped with just an old standby Weaver 4x scope, managed a 1 3/8 5 shot group at 100 yards. Hopefully can trim that down a tad as she settles in.
What a handy little package. If weather, work, chores, & flu let up I will definitely be enjoying this for a while.
Cheers

22WMR is a caliber I'd like back in the collection...and I'm also intrigued by the new B-series Savages. Your accuracy (so far) is consistent with what I was able to get with my old 93 FV SR when I had it, which was barely accurate enough for noodle shots on groundhogs out around 125 yards. (about as close as I can ever hope to get) The moment I see proof that any 22WMR can pull-off 3/4 MOA with any consistency, no matter what ammo=sign me up.

For a closer-range thumper, that FV-SR would be fun! Keep us posted.
