I held one at SIR and was not impressed. The butt was a little wobbly (not terrible) and it was very poorly balanced. 14 Lbs without optics or bullets. Mag was sloppy and mag release sucked. For 2k I could buy a lot more rifle than that.

Too bad as I was really hoping it would be better.
If you want one you better get one quick as the US is not exporting anything with a retractable stock anymore.

(it is kinda ugly btw)

As many will know, I am a huge Savage fan. Unfortunately, this rifle has so much potential but not something I will be getting.

At the end of the day, its a 12FV with a $1500 stock with a potentially nice mag. The production of the mag alone could keep Savage in business BUT it doesn't work in any other savage rifle and likely not in any AI bottom metal. Pity...

The top rail is interesting but not well supported in my opinion and using attachment bolts that are way too small for the amount of gear that may be attached. Solution would be so simple but that it wasn't done is unfortunate.

The AR buttstock is not ideal for best consistency and accuracy. Wobbly stocks are not ideal. Have yet to see a AR adj stock that was solid. The stub that sticks out the rear of the stock is certainly not visually appealing and forces the stock to be fully collapsed unless you are really tall. Why bother adapting an adj stock only to make it redundant?

The rifle will likely sell strongly as it has the tactic cool look. For that much money, there are so many other ways to go that I feel will be functionally better in the long run.

YMMV.

It sure look really good, i sincerly think that their stock (from the receiver part) is a COPY or CLONE from PDC, except the front wedge to tighten the recoil log and the kind of SQUIZING BEDDING is a good idea too.
I read somewhere that Savage claim that THIS IS THEIR RAIL but in fact, McCann make this rail for remington LONG time ago... MARS rail..
Anyway, i think that Savage is evolving pretty fast, i'am a remmy fan but savage bring some innovation on the market, 1 point for them.

i could be wrong but iam pretty sure that the USA army marksmen ship unit used that rifle to win the international sniper competion, that just aired on the military channel. very impressive if it is the same rifle that is.
