Hey guys I have a question about my savage 10 tr. I'm interested to upgrade the stock to a B&C m40 medalist but the tang is not free floating like the accustock. Anything I've read seems that it needs to be floating to maintain consistency? Has anyone ran into this if they've upgraded to this stock? Any advice would be great. Thanks

I have a B&C M40 on one of my rifles. It works great and is ridgid. I've never had an issue with the tang touching the stock as long as the action screws are torqued properly. Barrel free floats nicely.

I may bed the recoil lug at some point, but that may just be out of habbit/superstition than actual need.

Edit* rifle is a savage 10 bottom bolt release.

Savage is supposed to float and gets tuned by rear trigger screw. Savage shooters and accurate shooters have articles/posts on it.

Easy change. A little sandpaper and you wont even go through the outer layer. Just a paper width reduction and you are fine. All stocks can accomodate that.

As far as I'm aware that's only the older 3 screw actions. Both of my Savages only have action screws at the front and rear of the magazine, and nothing at the trigger guard.
