Has anyone ever seen an article about this rifle from Savage?

I've seen them up for auction on the net but never on a Savage website or anywhere like that.

What's the story?

It looks like the 12VSS but with a laminate stock instead of the Choate. The specs appear to be the same as well.

Any help would be appreciated.

nothing

No one has any info on the Savage BGTV?

Is this an imaginary rifle that someone is selling through a website rifle auction or is it a brand new model that someone has gotten their hands on early?

It looks great but I'd like more details before I bid.

I have never heard of one
What does the Savage BGTV?
look like? Any one know of a pic some where and what does BGTV stand for ?
I hope this is not hi-jacking the thread

I think the Savage BGTV was a special run for a few select dealers (not sure about that though). They are basicly a 12 series stainless varmint rifle with a thumbhole stock and were available in .223, .22-250 and possibly .204.

That's a BTVS

According to the Savage model codes, a BGTV makes no sense. 'B' means Laminate, 'G' means Walnut. you can't have both. ('T' means thumbhole, 'V' means heavy barrel, 'S' is for Stainless)

Yeah BGTV didn't make any sense to me either but I have only seen them listed as Savage Super Varmint 12BGTV. They also come in a blued finish with a fluted barrel as well.

I have only seen these advertised at a few US dealers and on GunBroker. I first heard about them on a few of the other forums when members there were posting pictures of their new purchases. In each case they were refered to as the Savage 12BGTV. BTVS would have made more sense in keeping with Savage's codes, but then they are equiped with Grey laminate Boyd stocks so maybe that has something to do with the G being in there.

The only one I have seen that the code made sense, the box had 12BTV on it. It was a .22-250 with a blued heavy barrel (non-fluted) and a brown laminate Boyd's stock instead of the grey on the so called BGTV's.

Where can I get one?

Other than on Gunbroker... where can I snag one?

I can't seem to find a place, WSS has no clue what I'm talking about and SIR didn't either.

I think it looks great and if it functions anything like the .17 with the same stock, trigger and action... I WANT ONE.
