Best I can offer on the savage bolt is:
1: firing pin protrusion. Google it, lots of info there. I set all of mine to 35 thousandths.
2: Firing pin spring compression measured from castle nut to castle nut. Measure yours first before tinkering. Short action. 1.312 compression (around 30 lbs) min 1.687(lighter 25lbs) only place to tinker with to relieve perceived bolt lift weight. 2.600 for Long Action.
3. Polish cocking ramp, cocking piece, all friction points(more risky but may improve things where it is rough out of the gate, dremel with polishing tools). I just use white lithium grease for these areas.
4: Bolt lift kits are worth it. I have several installed and they work wonders in perceived lift and smoothness. I would highly recommend them. There was a fellow on this site selling stainless versions, I bought a couple and can say they were of high quality. The old 32 special and steel BB mod also works...google them.
