Been doing some reading on the forums here, and have seen mention that the "stock" stocks are poor (or used to be?) due to flex and whatnot. I know Boyds' stocks are popular, but I really can't see the difference to what come on the rifle from the factory.

Here it is at Cabelas: h ttp://www.cabelas.ca/product/21878/savage-bsev-series-bolt-action-rifles-w-accutrigger

and the stock looks exactly like the one on the Boyds website. I read that they were supplying stocks to Savage for a different rifle (can't think of the one off the top of my head), so is this actually a Boyd stock on the new version of this rifle?

I have had 3 BSEV's over the years - as well I have had allot of boyds evolution stocks as well for Savage / Remington as well as 10/22

These are excellent and well made stocks - yes these are the same stock , they MUST have these made for there company. Only difference is the rubber butt pad --- 1 says Boyds the other says Savage.

There is NO flex and fit & finish are excellent ---- like I said I have had close to a dozen over the years

*** also to mention -- Savage is not the only one to use this stock - both Ruger 10/22 and Remington 597 uses the same stock but different color

The BSEV uses the Boyd's SS Evolution stock in Jacaranda color. Boyd's also makes this stock for CZ, Ruger, Remington, and various other OEM's in limited production runs... You can buy the same one from the Boyd's website.

The standard birch stock on my Savage 93R17 GV is stamped "Boyd's" on the barrel channel. I was planning on ordering the Evolution stock and was wondering if the replacement magazine plate than you have to order with the new trigger guard is any thicker than the one that comes with the GV?
