my dilemma is that I have a savage 12 low profile varminter that shoots fantastic groups but is 308, expensive to shoot and I can only do about 15 to 20 rds with current stock before I begin flinching. also have a savage 12 fv in an accustock in 223 that I can shoot all day for cheap and also very accurate. to do a build I will have to sell one. I am thinking 6mm br norma for the build and am having a hard time with picking a stock. what I am thinking is to sell the 223 to buy the barrel for the 308, and am caught between a choate which isn't cheap if you can find one or a chassis which also isn't cheap. the chassis I am thinking is the mdt lss xl, not the greatest one they sell but should be somewhere in my budget. for barrel I was thinking shillen heavy barrel prefit. need help with what stock, and any sugestions from someone who went through this dilemma and your your pros and cons of what I am thinking.

Well selling a rifle to fund the barrel will work. I have never shot a 6BR but have heard nothing but good things.
Do you know which part or fitment problem with the factory stock makes you flinch with the 308? I would try to figure out what's causing the issue so that you don't buy an expensive stalk and somehow end up with a similar issue.

I was shooting a buddies cadex chassis rifle with a magpul PRS butt on it. That butt was the WORST thing I have ever been behind, it made shooting 308 absolutely terrible. We both hated it. And that is an expensive set up so wouldn't want that to happen to someone else.

A shilen barrel will shoot lights out.
If that's the caliber you want, sell the 223 and get the barrel on order, it won't show up over night so get that ordered ASAP.

The button pad is terrible which is fixable. Even though it is a heavy gun it hits pretty hard from a bench, I think I am just a recoil sissy lol. If it is shot from prone it is OK, you can dig in a bit but most of my shooting is from a bench. I'm not sure if the angle of the stock is wrong for me or if I am just don't like the bigger stuff. It is hard to get rid of due to it shooting so well bUT if it is not enjoyable why keep doing it.
