Curious that if Savage rimfires are made in Canada, do they have to be exported into Savage USA before they are re-exported back into Canada for sale to us? Or do we get a siphon off the production plant directly? If that were the case, wouldn't the prices be even cheaper than they are? I know that the wood stocks are made in the US, so I was wondering if those get shipped up to Canada or the rifles (without stock) are shipped down to the US to be assembled.

That is exactly what happens with Savage distribution... and it SUCKS! The Canadian made products go across the border to Savage Distribution centers and they are then exported BACK to Canada! This makes it even more difficult to get a Canadian Savage rimfire here in Canada than it is in the USA... how much sense does that make???

My neighbor when I was a child worked at the plant in Lakefield. In the old days, he managed to get "seconds" as he was a tester. Pretty much everyone in the area had a Savage rimfire. ;)

But yes, they way they do things now does seem silly...
