Savage day at the range.

Kool what powder ? Primer ? 🤷🏼‍♂️
Turns out it was WC846. When I was working in Montana I bought 64 pounds of various surplus powders (cost me 325 if I remember correctly), so I'm trying to use it up. Works well, meters great. About the same burning rate as RL19 I think. Most accurate load so far is 60 gr. - dan

WC846 was a military powder used for the 7.62 X 51 NATO cartridge. It was repackaged by Hodgdon as BLC-2 I believe. Having amid-level burning rate, it's useful for a large variety of cartridges.

Correct. Lot numbers varied slightly in speed, so you have to start low and work up, but it has been good powder. I got 842, 846, 852 and 872 jugs. Had them shipped to the rail shop in Livingston, then drove home with it when I was done. - dan

Interesting to hear all the different encounters with powders that are the same but known bye many different monikers. Lots of great powders available many moons ago I purchased a 25 pound keg of a powder labelled CR17 which was the equivalent or identical to IMR 3031, or the same bought in bulk and repacked. Anyhow it was, if memory serves me correct, $90 for the keg. Shot extremely accurate in more than one rifle.Exceptionally in a Rem40x in 22-250
