Savage Elite Precision

I haven't bought one. But I was down at the launch at the GAP Grind and its a great way to go, espicially if you want to get into PRS with a fairly limited budget.

Well, it is exactly what I'm planning to do. I'd get the rifle in .338, with a decent scope (probably a Vortex Viper PST Gen 2, FFP)...

If you are looking into shooting PRS 338 Lapua wouldn't be a great way to go, but it's still a great platform.

Any recommendation? I'm using a 308 for 100v shooting. 338 seemed the next step going up. I'm still reading about all of this (LRS / PRS), so any comment/advise are welcomed!

6CM, 6,5CM, 260Rem, 6.5x47 would be my pick for jumping into the PRS game over the 338LM.

Big Time! Unless you feel no pain and have a stupid amount of money...what's 338 LM run a shot these days $9-$10?

Look at the ballistics of the popular cartridges typically used in PRS. There are many 6mm,6.6mm,7mm cartridges that can pretty much run with the big dogs, and do it with far less powder, $$$, and shoulder discomfort.

*Edit* Had to see for myself, not quite there yet, in fact how's this for a deal! https://theammosource.com/ppu-338-lapua-mag-250-gr-hpbt-10-rds/

Just under $5 a shot, good to see something hasn't tripled in price in the last ten years.

Also, most PRS matches won't allow magnum rifles as you would dump 90% of the targets you hit shutting down the whole match while they reset. I suggest going with 6.5 Creedmoor, lots of factory options for ammunition/cheap plinking rounds as well. 6MM Creedmoor would be next, it's getting there for support.

you guys brings good points!

Indeed, .338 is very powerful (I was looking at it as it has a high ballistic coef.) and from what I've read so far, I wouldn't have much option to go shoot that in QC, unless I find someone with a huge piece of land that would be suitable to go shoot, or something in the like of it...

Regarding bullets costs, I'm not rich enough not to consider this :) I'll start reloading ammo later this year, which will help a lot, even for my 308 (~ $1.13 per round)...
Are 6.5 Creedmore and the like as hard to get as they used to be?

You wont be allowed to shoot a 338 lapua in most PRS matches. Most have the rule no magnums and you cant exceed 30cal and no faster then 3200fps.
