Recently received a savage no4mk1* today serial seems too be In the 700000, all matching, even the bolt head is savage marked, wood as well, and the metal is also at about 90 percent, no pitting, and the barrel is mirror, slight wear, but still good for another 8000 rounds lol, will post pics when I get home, even came with a savage marked bayonet still has cosmo in it haha, no date on it, anyone know the serial number codes for dates?

From Stratton's book:
0c-###x- 1941 (only a few thousand?
0C-40C###x- 1942
40C-84C###x- 1943
90C-0C###xx- 1944. Not sure of the discrepancy of 85c-90C
Savage production ended in mid-1944 , last series is 0C- with 5 digit serial numbers, ending at last known 63036
(From the Collector's Only series, Lee Enfield No 4 and No 5 rifles, by Charles Stratton
