About a year ago I looked on another Precision site (forgive me) to get some info on various custom actions and the Savage TR and F/TR actions got very high praise. It was listed with about 4-5 other custom actions for precision work. If I was looking at a custom build would any of you give serious consideration to the Savage action. On a plus side the TR and F/TR come with decent adjustable stocks and price for the entire rifle a few hundred more than the cost of a custom action alone. Looking at a single shot for 308. Thanks in advance for all the input.

A friend of mine just bought a used Savage F TR couple weeks ago (Savage FTR, Bushnell scope (10-50x I think), and a Duplin bipod) all for $1500. I bought him a box of Federal Goldmatch 308 as a present. It was his first time shooting a rifle in his life and he shot a 5 shot .24 MOA group at 100 yards! I have a custom F Class setup and reload and I get about the same group, but my rifle/scope/bipod was about $4000 more. My advice is get a Savage FTR and shoot it out of the box.
