Managed to get to the range today and dial in my new Savage F/TR in 308.
Topped with Leupold Mark IV 6.5-20x50 LR/T and Harris bipod. Shot Federal Premium Gold Match 168 grain factory loads.
Was impressed with the groupings considering ammo is factory loads. (5 shot- 1/2" @ 100 yds) Because of the heavy rifle, recoil was very light.
Will now have to stretch it out and see how the rifle does out to 1000 yds.

Good to hear about the accuracy. Now the big question....where did you find a F/tr in 308 hiding in Canada? All I have been hearing is the word "Backordered".

Great. Savage's definatly makes great shooting rigs. I was impressed with my 10fp as well, traded it for 700VTR which is very disappointing at the moment with factory ammo.

I got mine out to the range as well. I rolled my own ammo, I loaded up 155gr SMK Palma's with 43gr of Varget. I did a 5 shot group, haven't measured it yet but I do know that the group is smaller then a dime. Very nice rifle indeed to fire.

I picked mine up at Ell Wood Epps. They had a few in when I picked mine. up.

Hurry up and phone PUD at Bashaw Sports he may still have one as he got an order in last week.

Alberta tactical has one in stock right now. Rick is gone for a shoot over the weekend, but its there. Its on the web site and I saw it in the shop yesterday.

Sucker...sorry haha had to say it...i think it's a step down..but i guess if you're going to upgrade maybe the Remington is the way to go.

105 Hornady A-Max with a charge of 29 and change of Varget at the lands is in the low .200 at 100 yards. Velocity is 2855.

X 2 for that load also the 107s sierras with 30.0 gr of varget just kissing the lands into the .2s at 100 yards.

I think it will be very competative.

Bob I like the 105 Amax as well my self.

BoB, what load have you found with your new 6.5x284.

I did some serious chrony work this weekend with mine but the darn thing will only go .5s at 100 yards for 5 shots. But it will do it ever time.
