Savage FV-SR in 17HMR....yep, looks like they exist!

Hey guys~I was browsing through a US site, and saw a thread posted buy a guy who had ordered one through his local dealer. I had no idea these rifles existed. Has there been anything on CGN about it? Didn't see it on Savage's "Gun Finder" but Googled it, and here it is; http://www.savagearms.com/firearms/model/93r17fvsr Photo shows the .22 version (note the mag) but the one I saw photos of had the full-sized mag.

Still pretty sure I'm out of the HMR game for a while, but the .22 I shoot most is the FV-SR I have. I suspect the same gun in .17 HMR is a noisy little thing! :)
 
Interesting. But I have to ask, why the FV-SR over the normal FV? Is the only difference the threaded barrel (and price)? And, do .17 cal muzzle devices even exist in Canada? :confused:

No, muzzle devices for .17 don't exist (that I'm aware of) in Canada, but the appeal of the FV-SR is the shorter length, EGW rail, and Tactical bolt knob. (nice if you have big mitts like me) Oh yes, and the extremely rough finish on the barrel. :) I got the .22 version because I was curious about it, and it's become a bit of a favorite since. Again, not 100% sure I'm interested in flirting with .17HMR again, I just hadn't realized Savage was making the FV-SR chambered in .17HMR.
 
They list one in .22mag as well. Obvious if there's a .17hrm there would be a .22mag version as well, but I'm just saying.
They haven't updated the photo for them either, still using the 22lr version photo
