I picked up a Savage fvt on the ee a few months ago and hadn't really played with it much.
I took the peep sights off and mounted a Burris 3-9 x40 I wasn't using. I used the weaver bases that came with it, and some zee rings that actually came with the scope on as different gun. Shot a couple amazing groups, but was not a fan of the paralax at 25 and 50 yards.
Mounted an older, early '90s weaver V16 with ao to correct it and things got weird.
I was about two feet loiw at 50 yards and when I moved up hit the end of adjustment very quickly. Closest I can get to zero is about ten inches low. Popped the scope off to use the peeps and I noticed the bottoms of the rings were not aligned with each other. So I thought that my gave had something to do with the elevation issue.
Last night I put it in a vice, in a wooden clamp around the barrel and I noticed the front sight block and both bases at the back are different when you put a level on them. That's why the rings were twisted on the scope.
But now what do I do? Can i lap the bases so they are the same at least? Will a one piece base just flex and have the same issue? Also the frontsight seems ccanted slightly to the right through the peep sight.
Do I have a lemon or can this be fixed for a reasonable cost?
