Hi everyone!
I own a savage 16flhss, and it seems the bolt is always hard to lift
Compared to my REM 700
Of course it's worse when i get to Max load
But even starting load is not easy. But not THAT hard either
If i cycle an empty shell it's okay.
is it something common with the savage action?

Just install a bolt lift kit I'm sure one of the vendors here sell them or you can make your own from a piece of 38 special brass, cut down with a ball bearing glued into the primer hole.

also check out savageshooters for more information

Try disassembling the bolt and give it a thorough cleaning. I found on all cases of my new from factory bolts some factory crud which escapes the cleaning process. You can follow some of the internet advice for polishing of key bearing surfaces. This helps, but normal wear in over time will result in same if you shoot it in for a few hundred rounds.

Light lube only. I use a small touch of white lithium grease to the surface of the cocking pin where it travels in the bolt body, and on the outside of the cocking piece. Do not over lube as it can collect dirt and/or slow the light pin assembly especially in cold conditions. I found the gravelly feel was eliminated with the above work.

Now adjusting the pin assembly for travel front and rear will provide the timing component. You can google that a bit for some other advice but I didn't go there. I would spend the time on polishing things first. Elky....
