Savage hmr 17 mag help

Ok so not really help but ideas? Went the range with the youngster the other day and saw a mag in my box with a single 17 hmr round. Didn’t think anything of it. Loaded it up fully for her. But the mag doesn’t fit anything I own?. It’s complete rectangle. Where as ours taper in at the front slightly. This mag doesn’t come close to fitting, it has the same mag well guide on the back and no markings what so ever… any one able to check there’s and see if the mag well I straight or tapered in? Then help me figure out where the hell the mag came from. As we have never had it out around other people and that range box is just for the rim fire stuff for the kids. It’s irking me how this thing showed up somewhere lol
