Hi All,
The gophers are starting to move here, so maybe it is time I addressed a nagging problem
I have a Savage model 12BVSS (or something like that) in 204Ruger. Stainless bull barrel, laminated stock.
Now and again, the bolt will pull a spent case from the chamber only part way before it 'drops' it in the action. That is, I can pull the bolt all the way rearward, and will see a spent case sitting in the action that is only half-way out of the chamber.
I mostly single load when shooting gophers, so this isn't a huge deal, but it certainly is irritating.
Bad extractor?
I should say that this seems to be more of an issue after I have already put 10 or 12 rounds downrange. Could chamber/barrel temperature be an issue.
Other than that, I have no complaints of the gun. I believe the gun may be capable of of 0.5 to 0.75 inch loads at 100 yards shooting sierra blitzkings. I say believe because I am not a good enough shot to tell just how accurate the gun is.
Thanks
Fat
