Just got my new Savage 12 FVSS in 22/250 plus Leupold base and rings. here's the problem!!! If I mount the rear base with the windage screws to the rear it fouls the bolt and stops it opening. If I turn it round with the windage screws towards the muzzle it partly blocks the loading port. Anyone else had this problem and how did you do it??

If the base overhangs the ejection port just a little (I'd say a half inch or less), it should be OK. Put the rear base on and try and eject a shell or a snap cap or something. If it comes out OK, you're laughing. If not, try and find some different bases. I've got Leupold QD bases on my 10FP.

I have a Savage 12 VLP-SS (22-250)with Leupold mounts and rings.I mounted mine with the windage screw pointing to the muzzle.Yes it overhangs the action somewhat but does not impede ejecting shells.I'm not thrilled about how it looks, but have not had any troubles with this set-up.
