Just wanted to know if anyone has this rifle?

If so what do you think. I do not want to buy the tactical version cause it weighs 15lbs. I will use this for hunting, weighs 9lbs (w/o scope). Anyhow, i handled it at the gun shop and it 'feels' nice.

Also what can i expect for accuracy?

Oh, and i am looking at the 338 lapua version (no i dont care about the ammo price or recoil)

thanks in advance for the input folks.

I did some deer hunting with a Savage 12FVSS which is about the same weight. Spot and stalk (as usual) was a trek. I mostly did it for the experience but would not recommend it for the faint of heart. I'm thinking accuracy is the least of your problems. Building up those forearms would be first on my list.

Good luck. I hope you're a big dude.

I do all my deer hunting with a 12FVSS, and like stated above. 9 lbs is a managable weight and its a lot better than 15. Im looking at buying the 15 lb HS presicion model and trying the spot and shoot method. Why spot and stalk when you have a 338 lapua. :D

Well, they are nice. I looked at one for myself in 6.5x284.
Savage makes great guns, but there is two features on this that put it over the top..
First, the Karsten Kydex cheek piece. I tried to find this aftermarket for months, and it was pricey. Also you have to drill into your stock.. which would be scareful.. but no worries, it comes installed!

Next, the muzzle break. It can be turned off and on. (Great target shooting touch, but you don't feel recoil while hunting)
The accu triggers are okay too. Overall its a great gun and they are reasonably priced.

Enjoy.

Thanks for the quick replies folks.
The accu-trigger has a very nice feel to it as well.

As for me handling the gun,

.. well i am not a 'big' dude, but i'm 6'3 260-ish lol

also i hunted with a 300 win mag, off hand shots etc. the gun was about 10lbs with scope, etc. and i could shoot it all day (good decelerator pad i guess ;) )

again, thanks for the input

Unless your goal is to hunt past 800m and use the 300gr VLDs then 338 Lapua has no real kiling advantage over 300 Win Mag especially in 9lbs lightweight gun. Accuracy is the name of the game in long range hunting and IMHO less recoiling 300WM with 200gr high BC bullets will give you more accuracy and plenty of killing power on any game hunted in NA in any sane distances esp in 9lbs gun.
