Ok so I bought the above rifle 4 years ago and love it. My question is how difficult is it to switch my rifle to a 243 cal, barrel ? Do I need a different bolt ? What is the cost ? I'm just thinking about this project and need a bit of help. Thanks guys.

Same bolt head and action lenght. Just a bbl swap.

I did a LRPV from a .223 to a .284. Just got a .308 bolt head and a new bbl.

Yes ... And the tools to do so if you're doing it yourself. Barrel nut wrench, action wrench, headspace gauges and possibly a barrel clamp.

yes, but it is likely that you need a large shank barrel if your rifle is the one with the target action and red bladed accu-blade. In that case just any old factory take off barrel will not work for you

any large shank barrel will fit, most off the shelf standard savage rifles have the smaller shank. a barell off a hunting rifle will not fit your action
