Hi Guys,

I'm excited to have just traded for a Savage LRPV Dual port in .22-250. :)

Does anyone here have any experience with these models, or the older single, left port version?

Thanks, Jeff/1911.

I've got a left port, right eject in 223. Trigger is "wow" Don't know what its set for and I haven't touched it. Good for 6 to 12 ounces.

Accuracy is pretty damn good with Hornady Varmint Express. Winchester white box stuff not so good. I've got miscellaneous boxes of match ammo to try in it.

Gun is in the 12lbs range. Single shot.

I look forward to buying a few more Savages.

Hey Max,

How you doin' man? :)

Mine is the single shot version too... Yes, the weight should make for a good "walking around" rifle. ;)

Jeff.

I have one in .223, for an out of the box gun it shoots AMAZING!! Couldn't be more happy. 55 vmaxs shoot really well, and the target trigger is very crisp to say the least.

I have a RBLP 22-250. It started out a little worse than expected, but I have it punching consistent sub 1/2moa at 100 yards with 75gr bergers, 50gr varmint grenades, and shot 4 consecutive 5 shot groups under .3 with federal premium 40gr BT. For the cash outlay it's hard to beat the accuracy you get out of the savage single shots. They may not equal a tuned target rifle, but that is comparing apples to oranges.

Here is 5 berger VLD at 100

The rifle has been bedded, and a few other minor spots touched up. When I first got the rifle the bedding block was only touching a small point near the rear action bolt on the port side, and a thin line along the bolt side. The middle action screw was also touching the bedding block and was almost impossible to put back in as the hole was so far out of alignment. And the front of the bolt handle contacted the stock when the bolt was down. It didn't take a lot of work to drill out the action screw holes bigger, relieve the high spots, and dremel out the stock. I also skim bedded the action out to 1" in front of the barrel nut. That sounds a lot worse than it was, since it only took me about an hour of work, and the set time for the devcon.

It does shoot very well now. I went out and flattened a few gophers on Sunday, the furthest shot I made was 372 yards. I am going to take her out to the range this weekend and see what it will do at 500, and maybe a bit further.

I got the lucky pick of a Precision Carbine but I think this new rifle of yours will shoot better! Have fun with it and post some targets;)

No targets yet..but here it is with a scope mounted. Check out the crazy, custom bolt handle the previous owner installed... :)

Yeah, I know...you guys are probably right. However, I have a few hundred rounds of .22-250 ammunition to use up before I sell it. :)
