Savage LRPV Dual Port in .22-250

Hi Jeff,

I'm in Edmonton. :)

THe dual port thing refers to a receiver that has a hole on each side, so you throw a cartridge into the left side and it flings the empty out the right side.

I shot it today at Phoenix, just to get the scope on the paper. Very short range of course, but here are a couple of 5 shot groups with some old handloads I had lying around. The targets have 1" squares for reference. I think this is promising...

Hopefully your groups will the same at twice the distance.

What twist does your barrel have? My RB/LP has a 1:9, it will stabilize a 75gr berger vld, but only about half of my 36gr barnes VG made it where I was aiming...

I didn't get a chance to stretch my rifles legs yet, worked the last few weekends, and I am waiting on a rail and some brass/bullets from mysticplayer. But I did a little load development with the 50gr VG and RL 15 shot at 200 meters. 37.5gr with a COL of 2.36" seemed to be the winner. Rifle is very picky with COL. 2.36" is .005 off the lands

LongBomber,

I hope so too. Looks like you're doing great with your rifle and load development so far. :)

I plan to get out Tuesday to try mine at 100-400 yards.

Jeff.

Where do you get out to 400 yards around here?

And thanks for the explanation of the dual port thing. Is it easier to load this way? Just not sure I see why, besides being pretty neat.
