Savage LRPV or F Class in 6BR? Comments/help

Hello Shooters,
I'm trying to decide between two models of rifles: the Savage LRPV LP RB or F Class Target. The price diff. is only $100, but I do like the laminated F Class stock and also the left port and syn. stock of the LRPV. Then, there is the bbl length diff. between the two; 30" F and 26" LRPV; is 26" good enough for LR? Decisions, decisions. :confused:

So, maybe some of you Savage owners can give me some advice whoch to go with. Origianlly I was going to spin off the bbl on a Sako Varminter single shot I have and add a custom 6BR bbl, like Shilen or Kreiger. ;)

My plans were to do some informal F class shooting for long range. Start at 300- 600yds and get some practice before going longer. So , let me know your thoughts. Thanks. :)
 
X2, it is a better F-Class platform and some shoot very well indeed.

But for half the price you can customize your Sako and be good to go. I have 6mm 1:8 barrels in stock just for 6BR's
 
out of the two, id also go F class. Ive shot the 6.5x284 and loved the feel. I think they look great too
 
I have an LRPV and love it. My only problem is the weight. It was too heavy for me to compete in a varmint class shoot.

I don't think you could go wrong with either one. I do like the more vertical grip on the F-class target though.

Maybe have a look at the Savage bench rest model as well.
 
The Savage stock is better suited to the F-open game, but, Ian is right. If you already have the Sako action, spinning on a new Krieger seems like a no brainer. Not much waiting either, since he's got barrels in stock. Set yourself up with something and come out and shoot with us this summer!

the only thing you have to watch with that sako, is the barrel shank diameter!
you will have to use a 1.200 shank barrel or a little smaller and with the 1.200 dia one you will have to face the front of the sako action off a bit because it tapers to less than 1.200!

Removing material from the barrel tenon is no problem at all.
