The rumors have been around for some time, Savage just announced that they're a reality. Damn...this might get expensive. :)

contact Savage Arms by googling thier name and get the parts dept. number. Order and pay and wait about 7 days.....new toys. AFIK....O.E.M. manufacturers can ship to Canada as they have permits. the parts stores cannot as the cost is apparently too much.

I have half a dozen of the stainless 10 rounders on the way from Savage... beware that you must provide your serial number... customer service told me that these mags will only function properly in recent production guns. The rep told me guns produced in the past year... but when I provided the serial numbers from two Hummer's that are TWO YEARS old, he said they would function fine with the new 10 round mags... so his math was off. Another gun was 3 years old and he said that it was fine also... best to give them the serial number to be sure when you purchase the guns... Could just have been a "snowjob" to make sure that the mags are going to an end user and not a dealer for resale??? Who knows... I will be glad to load up five mags with a full box of XTP's and get shooting! I will post a report on how well they function once I receive them.

must be a dealer check as i bought 10- 10 shot steel ones over the last 6 years and all fit and operated fine in my Mark IIs ( all different manuf.) from pre-serial numbers til now. I never ran into that problem.

Savage asking for your gun serial number is "Standard Procedure" no matter what your buying.

I've been testing the first run, blued, prototype 10 round mags for since the spring in my 17HMR. As I don't have a .22 MAG Savage, another fellow tested them out in his gun.
Savage Canada wanted to ensure there were no feed issues, or any issues after using for a period of time before they went into full production to offer them for sale.
So I was lucky enough to take part in the testing!
After I had tested them for a while and knew they would be going into production, I posted a thread a while ago that these were coming soon.

Funny, although these mags can only be ordered from the US Savage site, they are all made here in Canada and assembled at the Lakefield plant! The blued mags are blued at the plant, the nickle plated finish are sent out to a local plating company then assembled at the plant.

You guys will really like them.

Cheers

I have bought dozens (literally) of magazines directly from Savage and this is the first time that they INSISTED on a serial number.

May as well get used to it, it is now SOP! :)

I know the Lakefield plant manager very well, and when I call him for new "bits", it's the first thing he asks me, as he knows that Savage US will ask him the same question!

Just like dealing with the automotive industry these days.

Oh, and far as the question on .22LR angled vs. straight mags, Savage have some new "stuff" coming! hehehe!
