Savage Mag Release Button Location

Does anyone know when SAVAGE relocated its Magazine release button from the SIDE of the stock, to AHEAD of the MAG??? ( ON CENTER FIRE RIFLES)

I believe they are still selling the package guns 111FXC with the side button. Made from old stock?

those would be old stock

I think they changed in late 2006 to the release in front of the mag

Thanks for info. Bought the 111fcxp3 and it has the mag release ahead of mag,where it belongs. side release AND STEVENS model 200 rifles ARE old model SAVAGE . Still good guns.My model 70 has a BRAND NEW 1958 barrel and its a tack driver . Cheers POPS
