I have a Savage 11 in 22-250 and no problems feeding or ejecting and it is a tack driver....however after 2 shots the magazine seems to drop at the rear, then I have feeding issues. Pic one is the magazine fully seated and the second pic is how it sits after 2 shots. Any input to a fix would be appreciated !

There is something goofy going on there.

1. Are you sure this is the correct magazine for the gun. There are several sub-types of mag. based on cartridge, so I could see one easily being "deeper" than another.

2. The first picture displays the way the magazine is suppoed to sit in relation to the bottom metal. However, the second picture displays the way the magazine is supposed to catch on the bottom metal thingy. So either the magazine is incorrect and too deep, or the bottom metal catchy thing isn't long enough. Has the bottom metal been modified? Especially the catchy bit, has it been filed down at all?

3. From the savage I am using as an example, that magazine catches on that bottom metal thingy tightly, with the bottom of the magazine nice and flush with the bottom metal. Further, the feedlips on the top of the magazine just barely clears the bolt face as it slides to and fro. You want that magazine up as high as possible basically.

Looking at the second picture especially, that magazine slips down far too low once it engages the bottom metal. Either than bottom metal is wrong, or the magazine is.

WAIT! EDIT! I think I spotted the error. It looks like the magazine catch tab is busted off. That sheet metal is supposed to fold over and down, perhaps a 1/4". The bottom metal is supposed to engage the bottom of that folded over lip. You magazine appears to have that entire folded over tab entirely off.

Second Edit: Here is a picture. Notice the LEFT side of the magazine, how there is that little folded tab? I believe that's your issue.

It's broken, there should be a piece of metal folded over that extends part way down the mag. Get a new mag I guess or spot weld a piece of sheet metal on there may also work.
