Savage Magazine well

Hi!

have a question for the savage guys here.

I own 3 savage 11/111/116(now storm) all bottom release
my 11 his a 3 pieces trigger guard, mag well and stock. It does have a metal insert on both side of the mag well like this picture


my 111 and 116 have the 2 pieces trigger guard and stock model (well mold in the stock)
I'm in process of upgrading my 116 (barrel/muzzle/stock)
My stock option require a magazine well, witch I order. I didn't receive it yet but I was wondering if the metal insert on the trigger side was mandatory?
it doesn't look like i will receive it with my parts

that insert prevents the crushing of the bottom plastic so you do need it
push come to shove, you can easily make it from any kind of steel tube of the proper diameter

I'm aware of it use. but since it's only like 25 inch/pound, so basically hand tight, I was curious to know if some rifle did come without it?

if I've to make one, you would pass the shoulder and just go with a tube?
