Savage Mark 2 FSS---any good?

I was 90% sure I was going to get a 10/22 (in one of its many configurations)

However.....

A couple of days ago, while window shopping, I had the chance to handle a Savage Mk.2 FSS....The stainless model with synthetic stock. It just "felt right".
I liked that the gun had a 10-round magazine and
I've heard good reports on the accu-trigger. The fiber optic sights were nice and bright and easy to line up, (although I'd probably get a scope at some point).
I kinda liked the idea that the rifle was made in Canada, too, I must admit.


Anybody have any real-world experience with this model?
What's good? What sucks?

I have a MKIIF Accutrigger. It is the blued version and wears a Bushnell 3-9 X 32AO. Should have similar performance to the SS model.

Shoots 1.5 inch 5-shot groups at 100 meters, benched and bagged, cheap Winchester Dynapoint ammo.

If you like accurate rifles, the MKII family will satisfy you. I have seen a new Ruger 10-22 shoot 1inch groups at 50 meters, but cannot comment what it can do at 100 meters.

I have the blued heavy barrel version. Very accurate. Couldn't really be happier with it. Maybe if I had a good quality wood stock with nice grain....

Purchased last May & had it out once! The accutrigger is light with no creep. I am very happy with this model for what I wanted it for.

Being stainless for hunting especially in winter & those sweet light gathering sights are a real plus for us older folks with failing eyes. (I'm 58)

It shoots tight groups at 15 yrds, which is all I need it to do. Rabbits beware!

I also bought a couple of 5 round mags as it would be easier to carry when hunting. I'll use the 10 rounder for tin cans & paper.....

Okey,...Perhaps I should also mention a nice little single-shot adapter made by a fellow in the US. It makes the Mk-II a versitile shooter, in taking advantage of those little .22 shorts or for just loading one at a time. No more fumbling, dropping & losing those tiny cartridges in the grass/brush, wasting time looking for something that is almost impossible to find sometimes...
It just slides in place of the origonal magazine & your good-to-go, how easy is that?
