I know most of the 22lr Savage bolt action rifles are pretty accurate out of the box. What do you think of the combo with the cheapy scope.Does it hold zero and is it a rim fire scope with parallax set at 50yds.Too many models of the mark ii too chose from.Don't really want to or need to buy the TR version then add a $500 scope to get a $1100 accurate plinker.Bulls eye has the combos for $359.You can also get the non target barrel model FXP for $300 scoped from frontier.I know the TR has a boyds stock on it but there close to $600.Let me know what you guys think.Kinda leaning to spending max $500 for a rifle and scope. Then some subsonics and match ammo. Thanks

That's a decent rifle to start with but the scope leaves much to be desired. It's a fixed 4X scope, and they are not worth very much. Buy the rifle for about $255 at Epps or elsewhere and put a little better variable power scope on it, like a 3-9 power. If you get the scope in the combo package, in a short time you'll be swapping it for a better one.

True story!

With a scope on that you will be getting a great chin weld thats about it. The scopes that come on those cheap guns are all made in china and pretty worthless. I put one on a different 22lr I had and after a few months it broke. No matter ho much you turned the dials it was 2' low at 25 yards.

My advice is spend a little more and get something more usable.

Edit. The marlin xt22 is a great gun and Last I seen them ~$220. The zastava 22lr's are an amazing deal. All steal, awesome bluing, adjustable trigger, 22" barrel and $340
