Looking for opinions, experience on the Savage FVT.
Thinking of adding one to the rimfire collection, like Savages and the heavy barrel, peep sights idea on this model.
Also is one of the few rifles available in Left Hand set up as such.

The one I had had a super smooth bolt (other Mark II were not so smooth), perhaps it was a fluke, perhaps they are really polished properly, it was soft, easy to #### and reliable feeding from magazine. Sights were great with several different sized inserts. Stock....well....soft like a noodle but it works. it doesn't have the raised comb but that is necessary for scope, not so much for diopter sights. However, a nice laminate boyds would be a great replacement. Accuracy excellent at 50 yards but have no empirical data to suport it....just experience.

Had one, hated the stock, couldn't be bothered to change the stock. Sold it. But it was a shooter.
Another thing I dislike about rimfire Savages is the magazine and the release/retention method.

A few years ago, I came close to adding a single shot version (MK1 FVT) to my rimfire collection....until I handled one. The stock felt too cheap, plastic and flimsy.
My peep sight single shot rifle want has been filled by an S&L. Couldn't be happier.....ymmv.

I like them. I own one. Accurate and I only use Federal, probably could be better with better ammo. The magazine release takes getting used to but isn’t difficult to use at all as it’s simple and effective. I agree, it should’ve come with a Boyd’s stock but it’s light with the synthetic. Overall I sure like it and I wouldn’t sell it as very accurate for the money.

I really like mine. Smooth bolt, very accurate. Excellent peep with plenty of front reticule inserts. The stock is light but I'm not really aware of any flexing. I use a strap on comb riser for a better cheek weld. Also installed an Apache trigger kit. The thing really operates like a precision instrument and has a satisfying old school feel.
