Savage Mark II magazine wont fit

I have a savage Mark II FV with the five round magazine. I went out out to NFLD on vacation and found a shop that had the
5 shot Mark II magazine for sale so i picked up a spare for my rifle.
Now that im home i put the mag in and it wont click in place like the one that came with the rifle. Im too far to bring it back is this a common problem?
Compared to the mag that works it looks the same i played around with bending the feed lips and looking for burs but nothing.

Look at the back of the mag. did it separate? I have one that did and now it seems to be useless.

Yours looks ok. So I have no idea why. Sorry I was no help.

Try opening the bolt then inserting. My fvsr won't insert a loaded mag with a closed bolt with one of my mags.

Yep, the bolt needs to be open on both my savages.

my Lakefields will not lock either til the bolt is open. And i can interchange between them and the savages.

My good mag inserts no problem with bolt closed.

May i suggest a slight removal of metal from the bottom of the flange til it locks up in place. some stampings are just too long and require adjustments. . but try ever so slight removal.

You hit it spot on! I took a fine file to the bottom of the flange like you suggested and now it works just fine.
Both of them now fit perfectly with the bolt open or closed. Thanks to all of you that posted.
