savage markII improvements?

How do I put another recoil lug in the reciever-stock? Seems 2 would be more stable for better accuracy. The one in the back does not catch enough wood and the 2 screws between the trigger and clip are small.
Also is there a way to lighten the trigger pull?

You can't do much to re-engineer a Mark II. Maybe bed it? Free float the barrel? .

there is some articles about cutting the trigger sear spring to lighten the trigger pull more. Just remember if you screw it up you CANNOT just buy a spring you have you buy an entire trigger assembly.

Try a Rifle Basix trigger. Model SAV-R. I bought one here on the EE and put it in my LH Mark II. I now have a crisp, clean trigger with zero creep that breaks at an estimated 1.5 lbs. It is adjustable for pull weight and is pretty easy to install. I've used the factory Accutrigger and like the Rifle Basix much better.

Glass bed the rifle, it should fix your issue.
