Question for the experts!

I've got a Savage 10FP-LE1 (20" -308) coming in the mail, and I'm shopping around for a new stock.

The Mcmillan A3 I'm looking at quotes a 4.25" action screw spacing on the older short action stocks.

...meanwhile, the Savage info quotes 4.275" for the older model S.A.s

So....does anyone know what the spacing actually is on the LE1 specifically, and - what's the deal with the .025 discrepancy between the Savage and Mcmillan specs?

Any info would be helpful!

Thanks.

As far as I know it's just 4.25 on the older ones and 4.4 on the newer SA savages. I was able to get a 4.275 reading on my calipers once not paying attention...kind of screwed me up also but I'm 95% sure there is only the two. Anyone wanna bonk me on the head here feel free, I'm no Savage expert...

Together, our post counts are a palindrome!

lol no worries. I had the same predicament as stated before. I had sent a request to Jerry at Mystic Precision for an aftermarket stock in the Savage Short action with 4.275" screw spacing, and he replied that he had a few different options in stocks for the 4.25" Savage. I took this as "this is the right measurement" so I just chalked it up to being a newb and went on to order a stock from him. It fit!! hahaha. I just took it as I must have measured a bit different or weird. The same can be said when dealing with bolt patterns on a rim of a car. Some people will call a 6 bolt chevy a 6x5.5" and some call it 6x139.7mm. Could just be someone else's interpretation.
