I am looking to replace the stock on my Savage Mk II. I found Sharp Shooter Supply online. Has anyone used one of their stocks before? Any problem getting it across the border?

I have had no luck trying to get a Tacticool stock and I have read a lot of bad customer service reviews for Rhinelands arms. Not sure what other options are out there in my price range.

What is your price range... I have a like new Boyd's SS EVO stock for the MKII/93E in textured Black... It has a bedded G36 picatinny rail and swivel studs... I can include the removable fore grip if you want it also, it actually really stabilzes the gun when shooting and can act as a bipod on a car hood also... it is drop in fit. PM if interested... Here is a PIC;

If you want a Boyd`s Tacticool stock (I LOVE mine!!), you can order one from Savage. They`re standard equipment on the Savage MkII TRR, etc. (Boyd`s provides the stocks to Savage), and fit all current MkII`s, with tapered or bull barrels.

If you phone Savage, and tell them you want a TRR replacement stock, they'll set you up. You'll also need the bottom metal, trigger guard, & longer action screws, regardless of where you buy the stock from.

The Tacticool turns a nice little rifle into a man-sized, solid, tactical-feeling rifle.

I tried this earlier this year and Savage wants $175 + Shipping + what ever duty at the border for the Boyds Tacticool stock. By the time delivered here I was looking at almost $250. Bottom metal, trigger guard and longer action screws would add even more.

The Sharp Shooter Supply stocks are a completely different beast than the boyds and richards microfit type stocks. These stocks are hand fitting to in house actions for a very close inlet. The quality is beyond the price point and come with custom bottom metal and a Model 40 trigger guard. There are two main disadvantages with these stocks.

The first problem is they are extremely slow at producing them. The one I ordered took an entire year beyond the initial 6 week wait time. Second issue is they do not ship to Canada. My first rimfire stock is just waiting for me to pick it up. Once I do, I will do a review.

These stocks are expensive so I doubt it would be feasible to have someone import them.

I think SSS just can't be bothered shipping to Canada, they can sell as much as they want in the US. They wouldn't ship two accutrigger springs and an extractor.

They used to. I ordered a bunch of stuff from them back in the day. A few orders got hung up at customs and never made it here. They also didn't get the items back. I'm sure that's not a good way to run a business.

Fred and Lisa have always been good to be if not a bit slow and recently overwhelmed.

Fred didn't want to purchase a export license so we got scratched off the list, 2800.oo a year to ship to Canada.........can't say I blame him

I'd just order the stock directly from Boyd's. I think Boyd's can also supply bottom metal and trigger guard.

If not, call Savage Arms in Lakefield (705-652-8000, then 0, don't hit 3 as that takes you to the US) and purchase the bottom metal, trigger guard and screws from them.
The Lakefield plant stock these bits, as they make the rimfires there. They purchase most of their stocks from Boyd's, so you may be able to purchase the completed stock from them as well.

Boyd's is not able to export the Tacticool stocks due to ITAR restrictions...
