I just picked her up at Lebaron today as it was "no tax day". I was looking for my first "premium" shotgun, but ended-up with this and a Remington 870 Express Trio. I just can't pass-up on good deals, especially when looking at hard-to-substaniate $2500+ Benelli's and Brownings.

$449 for the Savage

Total for the whole shopping trip:

- Savage MKII BTVS Stainless with a 3-9x40 Burris Fullfield II scope and bipod
- Remington 870 Express Trio with a 1x28 Bushnell Trophy red/green dot scope for the 23" rifled barrel
- 1 high quality sling for the 870 + swivels
- 1 set of steel rings for the Savage
- including scope mounting and bore sighting for both rifles
= $1607

How will this MKII compare to my trusty old 1947 Mossberg 46B(a) in the accuracy department?

I can't wait to take her to the range. I've been longing for a modern rimfire 22 to compliment my Mossberg.

well doesn't ellwood sell it for $400 plus tax so $451.99 so ya you saved a few bucks.

felt one of the BTVS at Bass Pro nice gun for sure.

My 146B is just as accurate as my BTVSS at 25 yds. That's about my useful limit for shooting with iron sights, even peep sights, so I can't really compare them fairly beyond that range.

At 100 yds the BTVSS is very good. I shot six 10-shot targets today in intermittent wind for an average group size of 1.6". Would have been better except for one 2.5" group due to a flier.

I'd be interested to know how accurate the Mossberg is at 100 yds. If you can see a target well enough at that range to properly test it, let us know.

Those Savage BTVSs' are sweet looking rifles for sure, let us know how you like it and how it shoots for you. I was right on the verge of buying one before changing my mind last second and grabbing a CZ, but I think down the road I'd still like to get one, dead ###y rifle to my eyes and I'd imagine it's real accurate too.
