Savage MKII Bull barrel bolt action

I think I've seen more of those posted in the Rimfire section. Great 22s, especially for the money.

I have a Mark II BV with the laminated stock and it deserves better glass on it than the Trashco Varmint I have on it.

It shoulders perfectly. May go to the range today and shoot it.

I put a Vortex 3x9 with a lifetime warranty on it. Know zip about them.

MODS, please move to proper forum.

thank you.

and thank you SoBored for letting me know. :)

No problem, enjoy that shooter.

Mine can do 10 shots into just over an inch @ 100 yards with Winchester Super X ammo. If you're shooting 100 yards or over, try sticking to subsonic ammo. Less than 1100 fps, bullet weight over 40 grains usually does it. Good affordable fun.

That's killer. Great shootin'!

I wondered about the ammo. The store had no suggestions.

I'll have to wait until Monday to get some subsonic. No biggie. the least of mine is 1220. but I have noticed that the hotter ammo works less well in my older .22s. I had been alerted to the sensitivity towards the hotter ammo in the range of rifle I tend to stick to. This is by far my best .22, I would hope not to be disappointed about that.

I do appreciate knowing that, Bud. I'll post some pics when I get her sorted out.

Usually rimfire rifles stay in the rimfire section, even if they shoot the lights out like Savages often do. Have a look at this thread by Mystic Precision on his testing and results with the same model rifle that you have:

If you search on "savage" in the rimfire section you will find numerous threads on these great rifles.

Yeah, I blew it with the thread, Mark.

I hope the mods will move it to the proper forum.

But you like them as well. Nothing negative so far. bonus.

It's my first bull barrel so I'm pretty wound up about that.

iv got a MKII, but its the TRR-SR, awesome little guns, super accurate, for cheapo plinking i use Blaser, iv had it out to 400yds on a 10" target with a 70-80% hit rate, would have probably been higher but i was maxed elevation, 4mil hold, tryiing to line up what should have been a 3mil wind hold

I like those targets. What are they called and where can i find them?

Nice shooting as well, by the way.

I just put a Boyds stock on mine, couldn't stand the synthetic.
Slapped it together took it out for a 5 shot test.
There were only three holes in the paper.
Two shots went through other holes.

I see no issues with a PR 22lr posted here they make great trainer rifles get that 22 out to 200 or 300 meters! its awesome fun

I made that up for a 100 yard pellet gun target. A few years ago on the Canadian Airgun Forum, a guy did a post talking about how shooting a popcan with a non PAL pelletgun was similar to shooting a person @ 600 yards. I only had one popcan so I scaled an IDPA target to match the height and width of a popcan.

Here is a jpeg version you can print out. I have on version @ work with 3 targets on an 8.5" x 11" I'll try to post within a few days.

Happy shooting!

Well, you guys were bang on. With not much adjustment on the scope, it was shooting very tight groups right away. got out to 50 yards for now, but was extremely pleased.
I have some pics, but will post them later.

I love it!

Thanks for all the advice.
