Bought a couple of these for my 15yr olds as a b-day presents and been out at range sighting them in, really impressed at how they shoot for the $$$.

We got a some basic/inexpensive scopes mounted for them, Simmons 3-9 X 32 and have run a bunch of different ammo through to find out what they like.

After trying about 5 different types, we've settled on the CCI Subsonic hollow point, which seem to be consistently providing excellent results.

For a rifle and scope package that we bought for under $400 all taxes in, including mounting, rings and bore sited, I think this present exceptional value.

A few of our best groups as we got close to having them sited in nice and using the ammo mentioned above. All shot at 50M bench rest with basic bags, 5 shots each.

And the best 5-shot group done by my 15yr old with his first gun.......it may be impossible for me to ever beat this one, lol!

Yeah those mk2's are accurate. I take my fv-sr out to 300y with decent consistent. I've gotten 3/5 groups udner 1/2" with bags at 50m with sk standard plus ammo.

I find that the bolt needs to be cleaned regularly or it starts to fte. About 200 rounds and I need to clean behind the extractor.

Great shooting! If my last Savage Mark II shot anywhere NEAR that, I'd still have the thing! Thanks for posing. Let's see some photos of the rifle/scope now!

300 yards with a 22LR? We'd need some pretty powerful scopes to even see that damn target! Our range only goes to 200M.

I've shot it at 100M several times for fun, and have gotten 1.5" groups and it shoots 10" low based on 50M setup.

We were having more issues with previous ammo on FTE, even when somewhat clean, these CCI subs seem to have almost zero issues, we are cleaning less than 200 round intervals though.

It's funny, when we bought these for the kids, I was thinking I would buy a new 22 for myself, so we could all shoot at the same time together, and I was thinking CZ455 based on reviews.

Now, after seeing what these lil guys are capable of, I'm not sure I would spend double the price on anything, as I would truly not get double the gun, certainly not in terms of accuracy.

Here are a couple pics, really nothing too exciting, standard over the shelf model with one of the least expensive scopes we could buy.

Wow your son has some talent !

The Mk2 FV is a great rifle. Mounted a bushnell banner on mine and most of my shooting is done at 100m

I put my LR scope onto my mk2 lol, needed like 30 mils of elevation... Tangent Theta 5-25x56 scope on a 200$ gun FTW. I didn't set up my reloading press, and I dont shoot factory ammo out of my DT, was going to the range with my AR, figured I'd take the ol' 22 out for some plinking fun.

Your sons can definitely shoot. That's great. My 14 year old grandson can almost outshoot me too. At 50 yds off the bench he can pick off empty 22 shells fairly consistently. It's nice to see these young guys getting into it.

Savage mk2s are great. I've shot mine so much I've literally done damage to the action from working the bolt so much. Time for a new one.

Mine too. The bolt stop is peened on mine, the bolt travels too far rearward now and you have to move it forward slightly to work the bolt release. Still functions flawlessly though (as long as you don't use winchester ammo)

Hmmm, wish you wouldn't tempt me.

Well~coming from a "CZ guy"...don't get a CZ if you're after way better accuracy. You're doing just fine. :) CZs are nicer rifles, and accuracy is a pretty sure bet. That's just normal for a CZ. Your results with your Savage differ greatly from my experience with a Mark II, but mine was an FV-SR. My other Savages were 17HMR (x3) and one was a 22WMR. (x1). In other words, good accuracy is pretty normal for a CZ, but THAT kind of accuracy from a Savage surprises me a little. In a good way though. I like the look of the Savage B22s...just working hard to talk myself out of one is all. :)

I spent some time on mine last night. Had to find the bottom of the bolt where it hits he bolt atop. It was absolutely mangled. I think it'll function again now.

I want to get a new savage action and drop it into my stock but at the same time...I love this little rifle and would like to continue using this action. It's nicely broken in haha I want to keep it running. I probably need to file my ejector a little bit and bend that u shaped spring a little bit to tighten it up. Shells haven't been jacking out like they should

But what do you expect with probably 10,000 rounds through this thing? The accuracy is still absolutely dead on. Thing begin to wear out eventually.

I've got like 2k rounds on mine. Only cleaned the barrel once. I'm never going to clean the barrel again lol. Took over 100 rounds to get it print again.

I have been getting issues with ejecting sk ammo tho. Anything waxed sticks. Non waxed ie Aguila or CCI minimags eject with no issues.
