Hi there,

I’ve got an MKII FVSR in the mail a long with a 4-16x40 scope (1” tube) I’d like to purchase a set of rings online so that I can just slap them on and head out and shoot it without going into town for some rings.

My question is, am I going to be able to get away with a set of low rings (attached) to the factory pic rail and clear the barrel with the objective lens? I like to keep my scopes as low to the barrel as I can, and just build a cheek rest.

I’m sorry if this has been asked before, If anyone can point me in a direction to measure such things that would be great too!

I prefer to have both the gun and the scope on hand and take actual dimensions needed so the bell of the scope clears the barrel by a few millimeters. You stack coins to the appropriate height with the scope on the base and use a calliper to measure the stack. Then pick the closest ring height to the coin stack height.

This way you can also validate if your bolt clears without touching the eyepiece. But I know it sucks to wait again to order the rings.

Great trick!
