Savage MkII Scope Rail

I am trying to find a 1pc rail, like on the TR for my BVSS. The current scope is just a cheapo bushnell knock off that attatches to the dovetail. I wanted to put a proper rail on it to go with the new scope and apparently new rings (which i need to decide on still). Any recommended vendors on here carry the EGW 1pc? Every link i have found has been to the US and they dont ship the rails to Canada land. Tempted to see if a buddy can grab one from across the border at this point :/

Best bet is the EGW rail - make sure you measure your rifle and get the right one (there are two versions, and they are not interchangeable).

It sounds like Jerry at Mystic Precision has some in stock. As for getting them from the US, EGW stopped shipping to Canada - and getting a buddy to grab one would violate ITAR rules and be a bad idea for all involved.

Have you tried looking at brownells? I was able to add it into my cart and I did not see any shipping restrictions when I entered in a Canadian address during the checkout process.

Jerry hooked me up with a 20 MOA. Who knows, I may eventually need it. Now i just need to get out and shoot it. Also, any threads specific to the mk2? Im looking for more info and a place for advice/help as im completely new to shooting.

Thanks for pointing me to Jerry, was worth the extra to not use Amazon :)

Thanks for the order... what would you like to know?

This past week was the first time I actually had it out and shot it. It has the cheapo 3-9 factory scope on it. Shooting off the corner of the box of my pickup, this was my first attempt at actual accuracy:

I know accuracy will change as distance increases, its just a 22lr after all, but can I hope that this will be similar to what its capable of at 50? Im making some steel targets 2, 3, and 4" that i plan to setup at 50 and slowly move out to 100 with (hopefully further). I have done a lot of youtube warrior watching and pretty sure google is tired of my 22lr searches. Biggest thing I keep finding has to do with shooter discipline. What should i be doing habit wise to promote good shooting? As far as I am concerned, that group was most likely blind luck and I want to become consistant, maybe enter a competition to challenge myself so I have a goal other then a Popcan Jihad lol. Anything I should be doing to the rifle itself to improve overall accuracy? We have no gunshops in town so forums and work I can do myself as an amateur are kinda where I am at.

Do you know first hand they are not interchangeable?

I can only seem to find the 1 5/8 ejection port and not the 1 3/8
But from EGW's site they both have the same bolt hole pattern. The only difference I could think would be the radius as it is not shown.

I ordered a 1-3/8 and a 1-5/8. Since I have had no luck cancelling the 1-3/8 order, I will probably be able to find out exactly what the difference is for you.

There are notes listed on the page for the Mark II (1-3/8" Ejection Port):

This mount fits:
Savage MK II with 1-3/8" ejection port

*Please note, newer Savage MK II rifles come with a 1-5/8" ejection port and utilize our Savage 93 scope mounts. Please measure the size of your ejection port prior to ordering to ensure the right fit.*

When I purchased my Mk.II (BTV from Savage / BTVXP Thumbhole according to Cabela's), I originally wanted some sort of aperture or diopter style sights. After a cursory search, and the fact that any kind of proper diopter setup is worth more than the rifle, I settled on a red dot instead - which meant having to swap the two piece scope mounts for a proper rail. EGW had these available, and at the time they shipped to Canada. I emailed EGW at the time to confirm which was the correct rail for my rifle, and I had to order the Savage 93 rail due to the ejection port size.

I assume you could probably get away with using the Mk.II rail, but you might have issues with ejection.

Got the rail today, grabbed some vortex medium rings and got the scope mounted. Looking forward to sighting it in. Thanks again Jerry
