I have just purchased a minty BVSS spiral edition in stainless and already have a rare MKII Mako shark also in stainless both in .22. I was going to take them in to have the barrels swapped so I could could trick out the Mako even more and add the spiral barrel but can I not just swap stocks? Are all MKII receivers drilled and tapped the same for all models of Savage factory stocks?

You sure can. I did it with a bv and a fvsr.

May have to keep certain screws with certain stock though. Give it a shot!

SWEET! I couldn't see why all the different stocks wouldn't mate up with the receivers. Saves me a huge headache. This stainless Mako looks amazing, and MKII's shoot just as well, and the spiral fluted heavy barrel will really finish it off. Then I have to upgrade the glass..... I had a look at a silver Leupold Vx1 at Cabella's last week was pretty sharp image and lots of light in the tube don't think you can go wrong with a Leupold for $289.

Swapping barrels may be tough, mine was a seriously tight press fit and would have been a b!tch to re-mount into a different receiver.

My fingers are crossed a simple stock swap will do it. My other option was to send both out to a Savage repair center, then wait over a month until they could swap barrels, with shipping both ways and costs involved would have been a bit of a PITA. Option A is a whole lot more simple.... :)

On a similar note.... I am having trouble finding high rings in silver that fits the MKII. Cabellas and Wholesale don't have any and no ETA. Anyone know of another source? Also picked up 2 Mystic MPODS so can't wait to get these rigs together and see how well I can dial them in.
