I have a chance to get a savage model 93 in 22wmr, just a plain all black synthetic mod 93, no accu trigger, no heavy barrel. Owner says it`s barely used. Does anyone here have one? What are they worth? likes? dislikes?
Thanks in advance.G
I bought the same rifle, in the same condition (with a heavy barrel, model 93FV) for $225 and I thought that was fair. If it's a standard barrel, maybe $175-$200? Mine shot well, never any issues for a field gun. Shot every .22WMR ammo I could get my hands on (9-10 varieties) and the average group with best of them...Hornady 30gr. V-Max...was about 1-1/8". 1/5 groups might sneak just under the 1" mark, but some were up to about 1-1/2".
So, not a competition rifle...but I think that has almost as much to do with .22WMR ammo because I've never personally seen a .22WMR rifle shoot much better. I'm sure there are exceptions, but I'm telling you what I've witnessed. Another thing I've witnessed...is numerous groundhogs hit the dirt hard when smacked by a .22WMR round and NOT get up. (Can't say the same about 17HMR) Man...seems like I never missed with that rifle, wish I still had it.
Sounds like a stevens 305(93 without the accutrigger or heavy barrel)
I like em, can't load a full magazine with the bolt closed is what I don't like. Mine won't anyways.
I had one with the varmint barrel but I sold it before I even shot it because I did not like how it fit me. instead I bought a Marlin XT22m and absolutly love it. the micro-grove rifling on the marlins seem to like the 22wmr round, it is extreamly accurate. under 1/2" at 50meters and I have no problem breaking clays at 200meters. I also prefer Marlins pro-fire trigger over savages accu-trigger.
