Savage Model 10TR, 308 WIN accessories

i doubt there will be "another" run of these. The US shooters are desperately trying to find these in stock at the 599$ price, which is surprisingly higher then the CDN price. Anyways, the closest regular version would be the fcpk, which has the fluted threaded barrel and it costs around $850 or so.

Some guy/s on the EE are unloading their brand new ones for about $800 ..... Good for them to make a few bucks. Still cheaper than an FCPK for $850 + taxes + shipping.

One post on the EE just made me shake my head ..... guy wants $1100 for it.

I guess he has the right to post his price ..... wonder if anyone will buy it.

You don’t think they’ll eventually make a run of these for everyone? I dunno, lots of these LE/MIL pers only models, but seems like everyone can get them now. 700Police was limited for a while, the Aimpoint PRO as well, but now both are readily available to everyone. Don’t think there were any price increases either.

But then again, I can see how this particular model could cannibalize sales on some of Savage’s other items, especially at this price.

Haha, if that guy sells his for $1,100, I’d be happy for him.

:)

What do you guys think the Accustock is worth? There’s a guy on EE offering to buy one for $100 + shipping. Is he out of his tree or is he spot on with the price?
He can have mine for $100+ shipping. I'm getting the xlr chassis so the accustock is now a dust collector...

Sooo, back to accessories...
I'm putting a brake on because it's pre-threaded. I wouldn't bother if it wasn't. Alberta Tactical Rifle has pre-made AR10 brakes that fit quite nicely and are not rediculously large.
For optics, I'm ditching the stock Chinese-aluminum-POS and replacing it with a Farrell 20moa real-deal-steel rail.
On top will be a Vortex Viper 6.5-20x50mm mil dot reticle.
Biggest accessory will be the XLR Industries Tactical Evolution Chassis.
Overkill? Yes
Awesome? Yesser
Say what you like, I know you're just jealous ;)

Yeah, I guess that’s another reason I’m putting a brake on it...because I can. It’s threaded, brakes aren’t super expensive, and I can’t see how it could hurt performance of the rifle.

I ordered the chassis too....about 5 weeks lead time so I probably won’t see it until the end of February, beginning of March.

Are you sure the XLR chassis will work with the bottom bolt release?
The guys buying the AICS found out the hard way that they were out of luck.

Kyle from XLR Industries assured me the chassis will work with the 10tr bottom bolt release. I sent him pictures to make sure he knew what I was talking about.

actually the oem rail on this is an EGW 0moa, nothing wrong with them, not something id consider a pos. But i did replace mine with an EGW 20moa rail.

Hey man, do you know if the factory rail will interfere with the XLR chassis? In some pictures, it looks like it might.

I was just talking to someone in PM about buying a 10TR off of EE. And I noted that one guy was only willing to pay the cost of the rifle $599 plus shipping. Another person was offering $100 on top of the $599 plus he’d cover shipping.

I see a lot of griping about the folks who are marking them up. The way I see it is, the rifle is $599.99, plus GST, plus shipping to the original buyer, so you’re looking at about a $655 cost to the original buyer. Then you have to factor in the time they spend getting it from the retailer to themselves, then to you.

Cops make about $35-50 an hour, depending on seniority and if it’s an overtime shift, so basically they’re investing at least an hour or two to do this for you (taking the time to order it, exchanging info and e-mails with you, bank info, transfer of funds, relabeling it, drive it to the post office, and send it off). By the end of the day, they are probably going to lose money doing it. It's not because they're greedy that they want more money, they make plenty of money. It's just that who wants to go to all that trouble and time for a complete stranger and lose money?

I’ve seen them go on EE for at least $850 plus shipping, and personally, I think that’s fair. I ordered one for a guy at my unit who’s waiting for his PAL. He’s a buddy of mine, but even then I think it’s a pain the @$$. Why the *uck would I want to go through all that trouble to order one for some total stranger?

Anyway, there are options:
1. If you have to have one right now, and you’re not Le/MIL, pay what the market dictates and don’t moan about it,.
2. Wait out. I think Savage will open it up for everyone eventually
3. Wait for one with higher “mileage” to pop up on EE.
4. Get one from irunguns...works out to about $775 or so with the crappy exchange rate, gst and shipping.
5. You can always apply for the job.

AMEN!!
Preaching to the choir.
Mister Donut must be the only guy on here who knows whats up with the EE. Its not all a bargain bin pillage. People take their own time to put this stuff up and pretty much always sell at a loss. You people understand how taxes work, and that time is worth money right?

..some peoples children i tells yah.

XLR has already solved the bolt release problem with the Savage 10FCP-K.
I talked with Kyle at XLR Industries, and he said they have designed a bolt release into their chassis that replaces the one in the OEM trigger guard. They ship direct to Canada, too :)

Have you seen any pictures of the design? I wonder how they made it work.

I don't know...
Will find out in 5-6 weeks!
It's agonizing waiting for it. I am not getting scope rings until it's in the chassis and I can figure out the minimum clearance height.
At least it's faster than waiting for H-S Precision to make one!

Yeah, I know the feeling. Waiting really sucks, and it’s hard not to think about it on a daily basis. I’ve been using the Weaver tactical 6-screw rings for my other rifles and I’m pretty happy with those. The low and medium rings definitely won’t work with the scope I have (40mm) so I got a set of extra high rings (which aren’t much higher than the high rings). Worst case scenario is I exchange them for something else later. Just looking at the picture, it looks like the forend is at least level with the rail, so I’m guessing I will need rings that sit at least that high to allow the front to clear. Well, we’ll see.

How long does it take for HS Precision to send you one after you order it? My 700 came with a factory HS precision stock, and I’m pretty happy with it. It’s light, it’s comfortable, it free floats the barrel and it has the aluminum bedding block. I just didn’t like the feel of the Accustock, even though there’s nothing wrong with it and it apparently performs just fine.
