Just bought a used Model 14 in 243, it’s in mint condition but is about 10 years old. I know the guy a bought it from very well said it has less then 50 rds for sure. Very nice walnut wood, detachable mag, accu trigger. I payed $400 came. With leupold mounts and bases
What are your guys opinions or experiences I could not find a lot of reviews or Real opinions
Also in the market for the best scope to out fit it with.
Thanks guys

The american classic is/was(?) the high end of the savage 110/10 line up with their nicest wood stock. I have a 110 but its the old "hunter" line with a wood stock but it lacks the cherry wood forend which looks real sharp imo. I think you did well.

I remember selling those when I worked in a gun shop from 2009-2012. I think they were $650 or so back then. $400 is a good price. Those rifles shoot well, they have the classic look. I don't care for the accutrigger and the magazines always seemed a bit crude to me, but they are good rifles. Your rings and bases a quality. Get a 3-9×40 Leupold and be happy!

$400 is a steal. I have been able to assemble parts to meet your purchase price or better but those days are sadly gone. You did well.

Spend a little time bedding the stock and be prepared for smiles every time you pull the trigger. You will find great loads for 85-100gr pills and your expectations should be well below MOA in the 243 win.

Be prepared for some tinkering on the bases on these savage rifles. If you find that your windage requirements are too much try leupold adjustable bases. I find that many factory drillings result in 10moa windage requirements more often than not, and some times even shims may be required under the bases. Have a competent installer do the work if you are not comfortable in the task. Your goal is to have the scope at its optimal setting near center (mechanical or optical method). Buy the best scope you can afford, great options in Redfield, Leupold, or even high end bushnell.

Good on ya.

Way nicer than the turd they call the new classic with adjustable comb and length of pull and matte barrel for $1000. Not my idea of a classic. I'd have no problem with one of the older ones. I have 2 older model 11's that are great guns. The magazines are a bit of a pain once you've been loading x-bolt mags but minor issue.

Thanks Guys for the information
I can’t wait to get some nice glass on this gun and take it to the range.
Bought some 243 die’s today, figure I would start with some 95gr Nolers and Varget

Feels like it will be a nice walking and trail gun, also a Scout Gun with the 22” barrel maybe I am just used to the 26” rifles I have.

Congrats on acquiring probably one of the nicest production rifles Savage has produced. You should be quite pleased with it.
However, just a suggestion....with those 95 and 100 grain bullets, switch to IMR or H 4350 or even IMR 4831
Other powders that work well are : Reloder 19 & 22, Norma 204 & MRP, Vihtavuori N160 and 560. Regards, Dave.

I will try the 4350.
Anyone know what years Savage made these guns were made . I assume Savage does not make this gun now
