Recently aquired a "handmedown" Savage model 1911 .22 cal short. I saved it from the chopping block !
However, I'm looking for any/all info on this pea shooter.Specifically magazine/loading details. Also it won't fire, seems the bolt spring is weak, pin won't even put a mark in the cartridge.Any suggestions/help would be greatly appreciated.

I've had one for years, can't even remember if I've shot it or not.

Not sure what you mean by loading details? Pull the rod out of the buttplate and drop some shells in and put the rod back in and turn to lock it. When you cycle the bolt it should push a 22 short into the chamber if everything is working right.

These were made around the same time the 1904's and 1905's were so I'm thinking you might get away with one of those mainsprings working for you, might have to tweak it a hair.

Numrichs will ship those to Canada but I'd try Western Gun Parts first.

Thanks.
much appreciated.
I fiqured out the magazine configuration, split "Y" shaped with reservoir upper and main tube lower.
Cheers.
