I have just come into possession of one of these in decent shape. I wonder what is original to the rifle and what is not. Possibly someone can help me. It has sling swivels...one on the butt and one on the barrel which is a slip on. It has a Marbles type rear sight with the elevator missing....sight not marked. The rear of the barrel is grooved for scope bases.....are any or all of these mods/accessories original to the rifle? Should the butt plate be plain plastic or should it have the Savage logo? Rifling seems crisp and clean. Thanks in advance......Dave

Dave, the sling swivels are aftermarket, the Marbles rear sight is aftermarket.

The grooved barrel for scope mounts means it's a Chicopee made Savage 219 not a Utica which means it'll have a serial number, p.m. me with the serial number so I can give you a date of manufacture.

The buttplate could or could not be marked as Savage, they used two different types and one was the same as the model 24 which fits the 219's.

I've got set of these myself, a 219 and 220 with 22 Hornet, 30-30, 16 ga and 28 ga barrels, all interchangeable.
