Does Savage still produce the model 24 take down rifle/shotgun combo? I looked at their web site and couldn't find it listed.

Thanks.

I believe they discontinued production approx 5 yrs ago. I recently purchased a 24 Predator from near the end of production. If you are looking for one I know where you can find a couple that are unfired in Ont. PM if interested.

By takedown, do you mean interchangeable barrels? or an over under?

My Savage Model 24 is an over/under .22/.410 - I can't see them using the same model number for an interchangeable barrel type of setup ... the recievers would be vastly different. You might be looking for the wrong model number ...

... but I'm no expert :(

Sadly they haven't made them in years.

I have two and am always looking for more.

If you buy one, make sure both barrels are connected from end to end. Not just clamped at the muzzle. The clamped models suffer from point of impact differences that can make one or the other barrel useless.

I have an old 24 in 30/30 and 20 ga that road the bush with me for years. It has no finish on the wood and the barrels are only blued between them. There is a clamp at the front of the barrels and a metal piece perhaps soldered between them. At 50 yds the slug and rifle barrels hit about 1" apart, not yet crossing paths. It is a pretty handy bush rifle but ugly as can be imagined.

The 20 gauge 30/30 combo is pretty hard to come by. I have been looking for one, and I keep missing them by a couple of minutes. They trade on here occasionally, but I haven't been lucky yet.

I see quite a few 20 gauge/.22's for sale at various places.

Sorry to ramble, the answer to your original question is that the 24's are no longer made.
