Hi there I'm looking at buying a savage model 24 .22/.410 O/U from a guy for the right price but the side selector is gone. So before I got ahead with it, is this an easy fix? also I've read on a couple other sites of people swapping to the newer selector hammer so if someone can explain this process it would be great appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Original parts are obsolete, the retro-fit kit is obsolete too IIRC, though I haven't shopped for one in some time.

I have not tried swapping hammers.

Numrich or Jack First may offer a kit, you might look in their direction.

I have 2 Savage 24's, one in .357/20g and another in .30-30/20g, both of them have hammer selectors so I'm not sure of what you mean by side selector? I'd call a gunsmith, but last I checked at numrich gun parts all the of the Savage 24 items were sold out. I'm selling both of my 24's simply because I have too many guns and need to raise money for a business.

Try western gun parts in Alberta. They got me parts for my model 24 .22/.410. Mine is the newer style but they had the parts I needed to me door in a matter of days.

The side selector is that a button that moves a hammer transfer bar up or

down that to select the barrel to be fired. Move it up and the top barrel

fires ,move it down the lower barrel fires.

The newer ones have a big spur on top of the hammer that you move up or

down to make that chamber get hit with the hammer.

I like the button select best.
